The Cumberland Pride festival has an energy to it, that feeling you get when you’re surrounded by absolute acceptance. “Love is love.” I carried that energy with me for weeks, and it resurfaces every time I view these photos. It was such an honor to volunteer to help document that day.
I have to admit that I was a Pride virgin. It’s not that the Pride events aren’t important to me, I’m a member of the LGBTQ+ community, it’s just that I’ve never had a chance to go. As a teen, when given the opportunity to travel to DC for their Pride event, I was banned from going. When I was older, something always got in the way. I’m so glad that this was my first event! Cumberland Pride was beautiful, bursting with love and acceptance, and I cannot wait for next year! Check out their Facebook page for more or read about the event here.
